history of unilever

In the 1890s, William Hesketh Lever, founder of Lever Bros, wrote down his ideas for Sunlight Soap  his revolutionary new product that helped popularise cleanliness and hygiene in Victorian England. It was 'to make cleanliness commonplace; to lessen work for women; to foster health and contribute to personal attractiveness, that life may be more enjoyable and rewarding for the people who use our products'.
This was long before the phrase 'Corporate Mission' had been invented, but these ideas have stayed at the heart of our business. Even if their language – and the notion of only women doing housework – has become outdated.
In a history that now crosses three centuries, Unilever's success has been influenced by the major events of the day – economic boom, depression, world wars, changing consumer lifestyles and advances in technology. And throughout we've created products that help people get more out of life  cutting the time spent on household chores, improving nutrition, enabling people to enjoy food and take care of their homes, their clothes and themselves.

Current Practices In Corporate Video Production

Introduction
in  this essay i will be talking the practices in corporate video and law behind producing it. i will start by writing about the copyright laws and then move on to privacy in filming the video. after that i will talk about the defamation and how law behind that. then i talk about fair use and ethical of the video and lastly the technologies used to make it. i will also talk about releases

copyright
Copywriting is written content conveyed through online media and print materials. Copy is a content primarily used for the purpose of advertising or marketing. This type of written material is often used to persuade a person or group as well as to raise brand awareness. copyright plays a big part in filming in the fact that it reduce what a film maker can do with the video without getting permission. film makers can use royalty free music and also must have so they don't advertise other company in the background or on people T-shirts.

Privacy
privacy law may be relevant for example  film maker must make should they don't film private information for example passwords or personal email on screens they are filming or on paper. also this must make sure there are no personal records on show to the camera. they also must get permission to film they and any person it the film. The law allows people to bring actions for invasion of their privacy, for which the court can award damages. The level of damages is relatively low when compared to damages in libel. However, the legal costs of a case will usually be significantly higher than the damages awarded and are paid by the losing party.

Defamation
Defamation is the action of damaging the good reputation of someone; slander or libel. in corporate video you can't not undermined someone else company or say bad comment about and destroy there  reputation. the four way to get sue is one, if you lowers them in the estimation of right-thinking members of the public. two, cause them to be shunned or avoided. three, disparages them in their office, trade or profession and lastly four, exposes them to hatred ridicule or contempt.

fair uses
the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case.

Ethical
ethical can be many different things it range from colour to gender and even age. so nowadays you have to be careful that you don't get call racist or a sexist. so a lot of corporate video have female and different coloured people to avoid the hate on there company or business.

Releases
releases is getting permission to use land or to film in a public place. also if you are using weapons you have to get permission from the police. also you have to get releases to film the actors in the film and also get release to use set piece of music and permission to use it.

Technologies
technologies can be cameras to lights and SD card. first there are many different  cameras that you can use college and low budgets film use canon EOS  700 is use and is about £434 - £749 where as high budgeting film company's use camera like Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera. that range from £1,350 used and £1,856 new. you can also use a go pro to do action shots for example you can use the hero 4. There are also lots of editing software that can bee use to add music and to add SFX, for example premiere or final cut pro to do editing. for light you can use a roto light  and a soft box that range from £20 to £40.  Drones are a new toy in filming. the phantom 4 can film in 4k and the blades don't get in the way. one of the best drone on the market it about  £1,200

The nature and purposes of research in the creative media industries

Research is fundamental to all aspects of creative media production and is the essential starting point for productions of any scale. It can be used to determine the financial viability of a future production, to gather a range of information relevant to the content of the production, or to assist with the planning of technical and logistical requirements.

There are also media companies which conduct extensive research using a range of sophisticated methods to gather data about audience consumption of media products and services. This has become increasingly necessary in the highly mixed and competitive environment media industries operate in. But an ability to undertake research is essential for anyone working in the media industries and is vital in many stages of production and distribution.

To complete this unit you need to demonstrate that you understand why and how research is conducted in the creative media industries. The maximum word limit is 1000 words. Remember to proof read your work before submission and check for spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors. As always use examples of your own research from your TV advert project.
Types/methods of research:
Primary research/self-generated research
What are some examples? Interview techniques, observations, questionnaires, surveys, types of questions, focus groups, audience panels, participation in internet forums (self-generated e.g., own video, audio or photographic records of events).

1. Define primary research

Primary research is any type of research that you go out and collect yourself. Examples include surveys, interviews, observations, and ethnographic research. A good researcher knows how to use both primary and secondary sources in her writing and to integrate them in a cohesive fashion.
2. What did you do?

we use surveys to get peoples opinions and talk to people
3. List examples from your project.

For Primary research we send out a  survey to people to find out about what people think on the topic.

Secondary research
What are some examples? Books, journals, reference-based books and directories, periodicals, newspapers, film archives, photo libraries, worldwide web, searching internet forums, CD Rom databases, audio material, ratings, circulation figures, government statistics.

Secondary research  involves the summary, collation and/or synthesis of existing research rather than primary research, in which data are collected from, for example, research subjects or experiments.

Woah
With out backs to the wall, the darkness would fall
Never quite thought we could loose it all
Ready aim fire, Ready aim fire
An empire's falling just one day
You close your eyes and the glory fades
Ready aim fire, Ready aim fire away (fire!)
Ready aim fire, Ready aim fire away
Off in the distance, staring's resistant
Bottling up and festering
Hey Mr Motion, make me a potion
Shake it all up with your mystery
How come I've never seen your face 'round here?
I know every single face 'round here
A man on a mission, changing the vision
I was never welcome here
We don't have a choice to stay
We'd rather die than do it your way
